Technical manuals
Every manual, one search
Operating manuals, maintenance manuals, minimum equipment lists, procedures, training handbooks. They run to thousands of pages, each one has its own chapter structure, and the thing you are looking for is usually mentioned in three of them at once.
A normal PDF reader makes you open each file and search it separately. Crossleaf searches the whole set in one go and shows you every match where it sits: Manual › Chapter › Section › page, with the sentence it appears in.
Built around how manuals are organised
- Results follow each PDF's own outline. If the manual has bookmarks, you see the chapter and section of every hit before you open it, so you can tell the system description from the procedure at a glance.
- The page opens at the match, highlighted. Go back and the result list is exactly where it was, ready for the next one.
- Short names. Call a 4,000-page file "MEL" or "AMM 32" and that is what the results show.
- Revisions. Files you add from Files or iCloud Drive stay where they are. Replace one with a new revision and Crossleaf re-indexes it on its own. An optional weekly reminder prompts you to check.
- Scanned pages. Older manuals and scanned supplements are read with on-device text recognition.
- Apple Pencil. Mark up a page and the notes are written into the PDF, so they travel with the file.
Company documents stay private
Crossleaf never connects to the internet. There is no account, no analytics and no upload of any kind, so documents you are not allowed to share never leave your iPad.
iPad first, iPhone for a quick look
On iPad you get three columns side by side: your documents and the result tree, the result list, and the page. On iPhone the same search is one tab away.
Crossleaf is a reading and search tool. It is not an approved electronic flight bag or a controlled document system; always work from the revision and procedures your organisation requires.
