Datasheets and reference manuals
Find that register in every document
A single microcontroller comes with a datasheet, a reference manual, a programming manual, an errata sheet and a handful of application notes. A board has several of those chips. The register, pin or timing figure you need is in more than one of them, and they do not always agree.
Crossleaf searches the whole set at once. Type USART_BRR or tSU;DAT and every document that mentions it shows up, by document, chapter and page.
Why it works well for this
- Section paths from the PDF outline. Vendor manuals have deep bookmark trees; Crossleaf uses them, so you can tell the register map from the electrical characteristics before you open a page.
- Fast on huge files. Reference manuals of a few thousand pages are indexed once and searched in a fraction of a second.
- Names you choose. Show "F4 RM" instead of a forty-character file name.
- Scanned appnotes. Old scanned documents are read with on-device text recognition.
- Notes in the PDF. Circle a timing diagram with Apple Pencil and the mark is saved into the file.
Fine under NDA
Some datasheets come under NDA. Crossleaf never connects to the internet and uploads nothing, so they stay on your iPad.
